Bayer was invited, as the only private company, to speak at a conference in Uppsala for students in Public Health.
More than 100 students from five Swedish Universities (Gothenburg, Karolinska Stockholm, Lund, Umeå and Uppsala) recently assembled at Uppsala University for the Swedish Network for International Health (SNIH) Conference. The two-day conference for Master’s students gathered experts from international organizations and the private sector in the aim to support students and newly graduates building strong professional networks, under the theme ” Career Pathways in Public Health: Passion to Profession “.
Bayer was invited as the only private company and represented by Hovsep Mahdessian, MSL Cardiovascular Sweden. Hovsep talked about potential career tracks at Bayer relevant for students in Public and Global Health. Also Bayer’s contributions within innovation, animal, plant and human health were presented to the highly enthusiastic students.
The presentations were followed by a very engaging panel discussion with Hovsep, Johanna Ralston, CEO of the World Obesity Federation, Mats Målqvist, Senior Lecturer and the Course Director of the Global Health Programme at Uppsala University and Sven Olov Carlsson, President of the World Federation Against Drugs. Topics such as the role of the pharmaceutical industry within Public Health, fundraising and the pros and cons in legalization of drugs were discussed.
Bayer appreciates this opportunity and wishes all the students the best of luck in following their passion to improve health and to contribute in making the world a better place!
